Howard County Bird Club Announces

Birding Art Contest for Students 2012

Draw or print your favorite bird. Realism and attention to detail are important factors in judging. This is your chance to really look at the birds.

Drawings and paintings should be no larger than 11" x 14". Any medium including graphite, oils, acrylics, and pastels may be used. Drawings must be of birds that can be found in Maryland. For ideas see www.howardbirds.org.

The first place winner will receive a backpack containing a pair of Eagle Optics binoculars and a birding field guide. A one-year membership in the Howard County Bird Club is also included.

The contest is open to Howard County residents age nine to thirteen. Deadline for submissions is May 31, 2012. Send entries to: Kate Tufts, 2830 Duval Road, Woodbine, MD 21797. Include the artists name, age, phone number, email address, school and name of bird. Previous backpack winners are not eligible. If you have any questions, please email Howard County Bird Club.

The Howard County Bird Club reserves the right to keep possession of the art until December 31, 2012 for publicity purposes. Art may appear in public displays, libraries and nature centers. All art must be picked up between January 1, 2013 and January 15, 2013. Arrangements can be made by an email to Howard County Bird Club.
