Back to Howard County Bird
Club
The Maryland Ornithological Society's annual May count is held each year on the second Saturday of May. Prior years have tallied 135-150 species of birds on the count. Birders of all skill levels are encouraged to participate--whether or not you are a Bird Club member. The county is divided into seven areas, which are used for all annual counts. Each area has an area coordinator. After a hard day of birding, we all gather at a member's house for the tally rally (a potluck dinner, count of species, and general bragging rights!)
