Comments:
A group of birds feeding at the carcass of a deer in a field
across the road from Lilypons. Not ordinarily a highlight, but
this group included 2 red-tailed hawks feeding first and driving
off surrounding vultures and 2 Common Ravens, unusual away from
the mountains. I was told they are found as close as Harper's
Ferry and Sugarloaf mountain, a few miles to the east of Lilypons
but I've never seen them to the east of Lilypons before. After
the hawks left the ravens and a Black Vulture approached the dead
deer. There were also common crows on the outside of the group.
We could compare their size and bill shape with the ravens. At
another stop near Lilypons we saw a Fish Crow, again not usual to
see Fish crows in the same area as ravens.
